~ Engineering Crewman III  – Honeymoon Bay Operation ~

Applicants must be in good physical condition and be experienced in all aspects of road and cutblock field layout for a coastal logging operation.  Applicants should also be proficient in all facets of related office work involving the processing of field data and production of plans and maps for subsequent resource assessments and forest operations.

Graduation with a degree or diploma from a recognized school of forestry would be an asset.

~ Purchaser ~


The Purchaser is a “hands on” role with sole responsibility for the supply of products and services essential for our company’s operations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the purchasing activities for related materials for the operations such as maintenance parts and services.
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure the clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company.
  • Control spending and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs.
  • Evaluate potential Vendor’s ability to meet our company’s requirements.
  • Maintain ongoing Vendor compliance programs and facilitate factory audits.
  • Assist in the development of supply chain management strategies that maximize value.
  • Work collaboratively with various internal teams.
  • Determines method of procurement, such as direct purchase or bid, and takes advantage of discounts, where appropriate to do so.
  • Performs vendor negotiations.
  • Prepares purchase orders and follows purchasing and financial procedures.
  • Maintains database, service agreements and warranties, costs, deliveries, product quality and performance, and inventories ensuring parts and resources are available when required.
  • Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with operational colleagues, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
  • Utilizes and minimum/maximum inventory ordering process parameters.
  • Ensures that all contract administration procedures are followed and executed in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to communicate with vendors, and other stakeholders.

  • Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.

~ Boom Boat Operator ~


  • Sort, stow and boom log bundles; daily production of 2,000-3,000 m3
  • Keep log pocket organized and free of unsafe debris
  • Monitor mechanical & Electrical operations of boat
  • Keep hand tools in good working condition
  • Continuously stepping on / off boom boat to bundles
  • Occasional use of axes, peevee’s and pike poles


  • Must have at least, 2 to 3 years of experience as a boom man
  • Able to read and understand tide tables
  • Clear understanding of Metric and Imperial measure (primarily metric)
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule in order to work day, evening and weekend shifts
  • Able to physically handle heavy materials safely and effectively
  • Able to differentiate between different species types

 ~ Industrial Millwright ~


Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the Millwright will work as part of a team providing quality operational repairs and preventative maintenance services. As a member of this high performance team you will be responsible for all mill machinery and duties including:

  • Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process;
  • Undertake preventative and predictive maintenance program for equipment;
  • Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to assemble equipment and follow work procedures & processes;
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up, and repair of equipment and machinery;
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions;
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, diagnose, lubricate, and perform maintenance work on machinery;
  • Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders;
  • Assemble large, precision heavy equipment for the Lumber/wood processing sector;
  • Utilize knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings.


  • Journeyman Millwright certification;
  • Ability to read blue prints, plans and schematics;

  • Previous experience in a Saw Mill or heavy industry preferred;

~ Saw Mill Production Workers ~


We are seeking responsible and energetic candidates that want to work in a team environment with opportunities for growth and development into more senior Production/Machine Operator roles.  We are looking for candidates who are interested in a Saw Mill production role who will train in various areas of the mill. This position involves manual labour.


  • The ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
  • The ability to work day, afternoon & graveyard shifts in labor and production roles
  • Completion of grade 12, a GED or a minimum of 5 years related work experience, or equivalent training (eg. OFA3, grading ticket, trade, etc.)
  • Personal Protective Equipment is mandatory. Operators must supply, maintain and wear their own CSA approved steel toe boots. Hearing protection, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves and dust masks are supplied by the company.
  • Ability to take direction is required as on the job training is provided
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot
  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude
  • Knowledge of the lumber manufacturing process would be an asset

Preference may be given to those with a Level 3 First Aid ticket.

~ Clean-Up Crew Team Member ~


Reporting to the Production Supervisor, you will work as part of a high performance team with duties including:

  • Familiarity with production run specifications, goals and objectives;
  • Make sure yard is free of litter, banding and dunnage;
  • Work closely with Maintenance to ensure that there is no risk of fire;
  • Read, understand and follow safe work procedures;
  • Monitor housekeeping and assist with clean up in work area during down time;
  • Housekeeping of employee rest areas;
  • Empty garbage bins;
  • Pick up and recycle lath and dunnage;
  • Maintain sawmill cleanliness to required standards.


Ideal candidates will have:

  • A good eye for detail as well as be physically able to clean in and around sawmill machinery and equipment;
  • Strong problem solving skills;
  • A commitment to working safely coupled with strong communication & interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision;
  • Shift work is required, including weekends, day, afternoon and night shifts.

~ Saw Filer ~


Reporting to the Head Filer, you are required to safely perform quality work within the scope of the trade as it pertains to saw fitting, as follows:

  • Responsible for the safe maintenance and repair of all sawfiling equipment
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair primary and secondary breakdown machine centers with regards to sawfiling
  • Able to read, understand and translate blueprints into fabricated parts
  • Knowledge of power transmission machinery/parts including gear boxes, chains and bearings
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Benching, Tensioning and Sharpening of Saws, Bands and Circles
  • Examining Saws for defects
  • Installation and Maintaining of Saws and Saw parts
  • Troubleshooting when necessary
  • Some maintenance activities associated with saw quality (i.e. water management)
  • Sharpens and maintains knives
  • Clean up of the equipment in preparation for saw changes etc. and shop clean-up
  • Assist production personnel with any sawing flow related problems
  • Ability to function well under pressure

~ Reman Entry Level Production Positions ~


You will work as part of a high performance team with duties including:

  • Read, understand and follow work assignment and safety instructions;
  • Ensure that recoverable shingles are recovered and re-entered into the mill flow;
  • Ensure cartons piled straight and pallets strapped properly;
  • Ensure unobstructed mill flow, and that production and product specifications are met;
  • Use box stapler to assemble boxes;
  • Use strapper to band bundles;
  • Manually transfer bundles from pallets to conveyors;
  • Use of table saw to trim material.


  • Able to understand and communicate work instructions, safety procedures and policies;
  • Able to work in a fast paced production environment;
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, maintenance personnel and co-workers;
  • Visual acuity, hand-eye coordination, quick decision making abilities, strong problem solving skills;
  • Clear understanding of Metric and Imperial measure;

  • Previous experience in an industrial warehouse and/or production environment preferred.

~ Shingle Sawyer ~


Reporting to the Supervisor Shingle Mill, the Shingle Sawyer will be responsible for all shingle sawyer duties including:

  • Loading blocks into machine carriage and adjusting the carriage to ensure that shingles are of specified thickness.
  • Grading shingles according to knots, rot, or other defects, and trims off as appropriate.
  • Sorting trimmed shingles according to grade and tosses shingles into specified containers.
