Procurement Forester – Kinsale, VA
We are currently searching for Procurement Forester to join our fast-growing operation!
Responsibilities:
Manage all gate-wood suppliers
- Negotiate pricing and quota in a manner consistent with customer (Mill) demands and direction from Wood Procurement Manager
- Monitor all fiber security issues pertaining to assigned gate-wood suppliers
- Find and develop new gate-wood suppliers, particularly in out of basin areas
- Visit gate-wood suppliers regularly and stay in tune with market conditions
- Monitor log quality issues pertaining to gate-wood suppliers
Manage one contract logger
- Buy standing timber, with a focus on native and mixed tracts, form both private and commercial landowners
- Complete all stumpage related paperwork for contract logger
- Develop cruising skills and ability to buy lump sum sales
- Print weekly settlements for all suppliers
- Take direction form Wood Procurement Manager on various other tasks as they may come up
- Setup all POs and make necessary gate passes for all gate-wood deals.
Characteristics of the Successful Applicant:
- Individual works well with minimal supervision- to include time management, prioritization, and accomplishing objectives with only high level direction
- Individual has strong analytical skills and has the ability to quickly analyze various scenarios and make the deal that is in the best interest of the company.
- Individual is willing to work outdoors in all types of conditions ranging from extreme hot to extreme cold, as well as rain and can handle walking/hiking in rugged, mountainous terrain while carrying up to 10 pounds of gear.
- Individual possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry.
- Individual is well versed in the suite of Microsoft Office programs and can learn to use other types of software in a reasonable amount of time. Familiarity with ArcMap and T-Cruise is a plus.
- Individual must have the highest level of ethics and integrity.
- Individual must have strong people skills and be able to clearly articulate directions, expectations, etc. to contractors and suppliers.
- Individual is familiar with timber cruising, forestry BMPS, and general forest operations.

Position Overview:

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Industrial Electrician is responsible for daily electrical work, maintaining machinery and equipment in good repair to allow for effective mill flow and as follows:
- Inspect, install, troubleshoot, repair and service (includes calibration and preventive/predictive maintenance) electrical equipment such as motors, generators, pumps, heavy duty machines, illumination systems, environmental regulating systems, communication systems and associated electrical and electronic controls;
- Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment
- Run conduit and wire/rewire systems;
- Provide PLC programming support (troubleshooting and upgrading);
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematic drawings to assemble equipment and follow work procedures & processes;
- Ability to understand, maintain and troubleshoot AC/DC motors, generators and associated machine controls including programmable controllers, computers and electronics used in a lumber manufacturing environment;
- Diagnose and repair issues with motors, controllers, PLCs;
- Utilize knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:
- Proven experience of 3 to 5 years working as an Electrician in an Industrial setting;
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment, hydraulic equipment, control circuits, motors, motor control circuits, and other electrical and electronic systems and equipment;
- Ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics and apply CSA requirements;
- Knowledge and experience with the installation, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of logic control systems, Programmable Logic Controllers, and adjustable frequency AC drives (preferably Allen Bradley – Control Logix and PLC 5);
- Variable speed drive experience – preferably Control Techniques;
- Strong problem solving skills;

We are currently searching for General Production Laborers to join our fast-growing operation! Production positions are available in both the Sawmill and the Planer Mill, and for both 1st & 2nd shift.
Position Overview:
Reporting the other Shift Supervisor, the Production Laborer will work a Monday to Friday schedule, 55 hours per week with an occasional Saturday at 12 hours per day; shifts do not rotate. Operator jobs vary slightly according to machine center, but the basic duties include:
- Starting and stopping machine at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Cleaning equipment at the beginning and end of each shift and keeping a clean workspace.
- Monitoring machine during the shift and performing various tasks to ensure maximum throughput of lumber.
- Performing basic preventative maintenance and checklists as required, and reporting all issues to Maintenance Department
- Being present and on time for each shift.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Qualifications:
- High school or equivalent (Preferred);
- Exceptional manual dexterity and coordination;
- Ability to operate buttons, switches, and joysticks on electrical panel;
- Ability to operate computer keyboard;
- Good vision with or without corrective lenses;
- Ability to stand, and move around, climb stairs as needed;
- Extensive movement of arms and hands;
- Ability to work in all types of weather;
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds;
- Must be able to tolerate bark and sawdust;
