Divisional Forester

We are currently recruiting for the position of Divisional Forester at our Fraser Valley Division.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Primary duties will include:

  • Implementation and administration of the Forest Stewardship Plan for the Division’s Forest Licence and Timber Licence;
  • Organizing all silviculture activities in the Fraser Valley Division;
  • Co-ordinate silviculture activities in the Company’s Coastal Operations;
  • Prepare Forestry Budgets and Silviculture Accruals.
  • Provide liaison with First Nations, Government Agencies, and Special Interest Groups;
  • Assist in the preparation and review of Cutting Permit applications, Site Plans, and Logging Plans and other projects required to meet the Company’s production objectives;
  • Organize Planting, Sowing, Brushing, Silviculture Surveys, Road Deactivation and Waste and Residue programs at the Fraser Valley Division;
  • Co-ordinate the Company’s Corporate Management System and Safety Management System for Forestry Activities in the Fraser Valley Division.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications are considered necessary to effectively undertake this position:

  • Currently registered with the Association of BC Forest Professionals as a Professional Forester (RPF) or Forest Technologist (RFT);
  • Familiarity with the Legislation and Regulations governing forest practices in BC;
  • Background in forestry planning, coastal engineering and silviculture operations;
  • Competent with basic computer applications with a working knowledge of RESULTS, PHOENIX, SPAR, and ESF;
  • Working knowledge of Commercial Contract preparation and implementation;
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be self directed, and motivated, with the ability to organize and direct projects and personnel;
  • Have a class 5 driver’s license.

Engineering Technician

We are currently recruiting for the position of an Engineering Technician.  This position will be located at our Fraser Valley Operation working out of our Head Office in Surrey.  Regular travel to our logging divisions throughout the lower Fraser Valley/Fraser Canyon areas will be involved.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Primary duties/responsibilities are to:

  • Assist in engineering activities for a variety of harvesting systems including hoe chucking, helicopter, cable and mechanical logging;
  • Assist in preparing associated Stumpage Appraisals and Cutting/Road Permits; and
  • Assist in the implementation of the Company’s Corporate Management System and Safety Management System to workers on the ground.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following qualifications are considered necessary to effectively undertake this position:

  • Familiarity with the Legislation and Regulations governing forest practices in BC;
  • Strong background in coastal/steep slope engineering and harvesting operations;
  • Competent with basic computer applications;
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be self-directed, and motivated; and
  • Have a valid class 5 driver’s license.

Forestry Technician

We are currently recruiting for the position of Forestry Technician to assist our Silviculture Forester in the planning, fieldwork, and implementation of our Silviculture Program.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Primary duties and responsibilities include all aspects of silviculture including:

  • Assist in the implementation of  basic silviculture activities including planting, brushing, and survey programs and ensure that the projects are in compliance with  Operational Plans and Company Policies;
  • Conduct regen, free growing, brushing and planting quality surveys and associated record keeping;
  • Assist the Silviculture Forester in planning, budgeting and scheduling basic silviculture projects;
  • Implement the Company’s Corporate Management and Safety Management Systems; and
  • Assist with Site Plan data collection.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following general qualifications are considered important to effectively undertake this position:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Forestry or related degree in Natural Resource Management;
  • Current accreditation with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (RPF or RFT) is considered an asset;
  • Working knowledge of basic computer programs including Excel and Word;
  • Be physically fit and able to work in rough terrain and adverse weather conditions; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and provide their own transportation to the daily marshalling point.

This position is based at Teal’s Fraser Valley Operations office, located in Surrey B.C. However, the position is field-oriented and therefore the candidate must be prepared to travel throughout the lower Fraser Valley/Fraser Canyon areas.
