Western Red Cedar

For over 70 years the Jones family has been cutting Western Red Cedar on the banks of the Fraser River on Canada’s west coast. This dedication explains Teal Cedar’s long standing status for high quality products in the world markets.

Controlling its supply from the source (TFLs, TLs & FLs) affords Teal Cedar a unique advantage over other manufacturers. While still in the forest, whitewood (hemlock, Douglas fir, and spruce) logs are tagged and directed to whitewood mills and cedar logs are slated for cedar mills and specialty cedar cuts. Cedar logs are further assessed for their finished product value. Cedar shingle logs are selected away from cedar saw logs on the river ahead of the mills and directed to the appropriate facility for production.

Teal Jones is the only major forest products company that has the combination of size and versatility to control their own logging, milling, and finishing over so many species. This process enables the mills to add value to our products before they’re even manufactured.
